Ok, Valentines Day is coming up so those with beaus are in for a challenge, especially in the Purity department when everyone is illegally fornicating and the world is telling you this is the time to be all romantic. You are thinking but I'm not married yet. For singles its the challenges of envy and bad ex-dates showing up at your door that in other times of the year you would never give the time of day. ALOT of temptation happens during this time, so before-warned. I was thinking about motives today, so I thought i'd share about the important of putting your spouse first.

It's easy to say you want to be married and not be willing to put aside those things that would distract you from having a successful courtship. But when you are about to tie the knot have you thought of all the obligations that could keep you from spending time together. Weddings add alot of stress and pose challenges but there's no better time to see where your priorities are. Are you more focused on having everything you want at the wedding or being with the one person chosen for you? Are you interested in making your mom, dad, sister and brother, friends, foes or anyone else happy or is it about pleasing God and your future spouse?

Sadly i've done this and seen this done. Some are soo focused on that job, wanting to be successful, being a great parent, having lots of money or some other issue that you lose site of the one thing thats supposed to matter more to you than anything, except God. And for singles, is your desire for marriage REALLY in the right place, or do you just want a baby. Or a fly house or a fab wedding because all your other friends have had it. If your first desire is to be a wife, it will show by what you do or dont do. If you do, you will allow GOD to do whatever He needs to to make sure you are ready to do the job properly. Otherwise its really about you. The test comes when things are difficult, when you really love someone it wont matter if you are in a shack (tho it gets difficult the older u get lol) or a mud hut, you simply want to be with the one that makes your heart a flutter. So this Valentines day, instead of bemoaning what you dont have or think you want, trust that you are right where you need to be for this time. Til next time. B blessed.

Since I focus on the traditional and non-traditional bride, I thought this Amsale Bridemaids dress would be a good choice for the NAVY color. If you are having a wedding in winter this is a wonderful option that's understated and long. You could also use a Bolero or shawl to add some pop to the color while also more coverage, its cold out there BRRRR....

Hi everyone, im still trying to raise funds for my friend but i thought i would switch gears, www.boundless.org which is a webzine for those in the midst of the single years had an article entitled 'Your Friendgirl deserves better' It really was interesting and i hope you check it out. I was struck by it, because many many times i have been in a Pseudo relationship with a male who was not trying to 'officially' date me but we were just my friends. The problem was we spent as much time as a couple would but yet conveniently dated other people. The article states in its on way i will state in mine, the problem with this is you never make a real investment in another person this way. While the article was speaking of guys who are interested but keeping their 'friendgirls' hanging on.(.hey wasnt that a song?), it can be applied to both sexes. You really are cheating the other person out of their just due. If a person isnt good enough for you to date but good enough for you to hang around, pick up your laundry and generally other wifey duties you are like a bandit making off with a stash of 100 dollar bills.
You are getting all the benefits from the relationship and none of the baggage. OUCH! see: committment. I believe this is why the Bible says to not DEFRAUD one another, because basically you are STEALING. You need to understand what and why you are friends, dont be sad b/c i recently figured this out. The truth is, you need to not have close close friends with the opposite sex anyway, other than a brother because all that emotion, trust and bonding should be shared with your future spouse. Am I wrong? Instead of telling each other you really dig one another, you pick and choose(USE) those aspects of the person that you like and go find other people to fill up the gaps. W hat eventually happens is one person finds the one they REALLY want and then leaves you like a bucket of ice water;then someone usually ends up mad. So you have wasted money and time and somehow a loss even though you were never really dating. Its best to be real, if you like someone enough to hang out, pay the bill, otherwise dont waste time and be with someone you really want: warts and all. Remember nobody is perfect.... be a good person and be in it for the long haul, so you can let the riff raff go.

PURITY RINGS!

Happy New Year everyone! OK so i was doing some research on rings, and i think for the new year i would like to get a PURITY RING this one i absolutely love. I was thinking about how special it is to Save yourself for that special one, on the last video i posted (minus the reference to martini's i missed that) i think she's right. God will reward you greatly when you wait. So I hope to make 2012 committed to purity in mind, heart and actions. Also I have committed to an Esther Prep, what you say? Actually in the bible before Esther was presented to her KING she went through a whole year of preparation with beauty treatments the first being MYRRH, which is known as a spice representing death and could also represent death to her old life. Seeing as when you get married you will no longer be you but we. I will let you know how i do.

Every day we have choices. Some choices are big some are small. The important the not so important. Choices when it comes to a wedding partner are ones that change the direction of your whole life. We know biblically that a man chooses His wife but God chooses the direction for your overall life. But we do have some say, although i think the choices we make day to day make a big difference in whether or not we will be prepared for what our outcome will be. God is the author and finisher of our life but we CAN have say in how prepared we can be for marriage. What you CAN do.

1.Get you Finances under control
2.get your baggage under control(past relationships etc
3.Get your relationship with God is top priority, this should be first, if you have no idea where you are going how do you know who you should be going with.
4. Get wise council, from Pastors and Godly parents and people who know the Lord. God will give you the best advice on what to do.

Other factors will come up but if you make sure these three are dealt with you should have a better go at it. Until then be blessed.

There will be NO liquor at my wedding, if you have the same sentiments and want to avoid the drunk relatives or friends you might want to read up. While reading Christianity Today the other day i noticed a 'wine ad' in the back. I'm like hmm? In Christianity today? Okay, so I will not make this a bible study about whether or not to have wine(fermented) at your venue mainly because i made up my mind it was BETTER to have none. And while i REALLY wanted the LOOK of a champagne bottle b/c they were very ELEGANT and symbolized joy and it was a special occasion; as opposed to a bottle of Welsh's I figured the possible damage was not worth the risk. So here are some OPTIONS i found.Draper Valley Vineyard was the ad i saw in the magazine and they have a FULL range of grape juices, NON alcoholic and is a good sub if you insist on having 'wine' at the wedding. The other option i found is above at Sweetwater Cellars, a full vineyard (i know nothing about wine so go to the site) So God worked it out. The other issue was is the look too close to 'REAL'' wine for those who may be 'tempted' to go to the liquor store after, well you'll have to let GOD decide that for you. I will let you know what they taste like!!! So hopefully folks will be 'filled with the Spirit' as opposed to the 'spirits' thanks.

I like to take a theme and come up with a color scheme based on that. Some colors go well together in nature, you can easily translate that into your wedding party. Orchids are a WONDERFUL choice when not afraid of color. In fact I think I like yellow and lavender as a color scheme for a summer wedding, if your not scared! I think more yellow with a hint of lavender/fuschia make the wedding pop and give quite a festive sassy flavor.

Friends...should you have male ones?

Ok, relationships are hard, but what makes it harder is friends. Do you have a lot of friends of the opposite sex. Might I suggest that this is a subject that can get sticky. I think this is probably a bad idea if you are in the beginning stages of engagement to marriage. I know this seems a little extreme, but honestly most friends of the opposite sex can become a source of temptation in a marriage. Generally speaking your best male friend should be your husband or husband to be. I have heard of many stories were the female or male friends become a comparison model to the one you have, or someone that you RUN to when your mate is stressing you out. While knowing people is fine, having close male friends is not really a good move. Might i add that its suggested to get rid of very close male friends before
entering into a relationship with the one. While it may make for good drama in the movies, that you have a best friend, the truth is if you are married this can alienate your husband. Especially if he feels he needs to prove himself. Now brothers, fathers and those who are there for your are a blessing and should be there to protect you, and many who dont have either there are those that step in. Male friends can be a source of encouragement and while i think there's nothing wrong with having brothers in Christ many times these relationships can cause a strain on your relationship or be potentially harmful to your relationship if you are not clear on boundaries. Close close relationships when you are married is a no-no. Anyone who loves you will be sure to respect your boundaries and be there to be sure the man you are being with is one who loves you. I know this sounds a little odd, but truthfully most ppl lean on a friend as they would a spouse. So the best way to be ready for your future hubby is to be the only one not a line of folks he has to meet, greet and compete. So when getting ready for your big day, your marriage now or before getting into do a pew check, are there any relationships you need to let go of to make more room for your prince.

Moist and Flavorful Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing and Coconut Top
INGREDIENTS:
2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
½ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Hersey)
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. salt
2 sticks of softened/room temperature unsalted butter
4 tbsp. of vegetable oil
2 cups of granulated sugar
4 eggs at room temperature
1 cup sour cream
½ cup of buttermilk
2 1 ounce bottles of red food coloring (I use McCormick)
3 tbsp. pure vanilla extract (I use McCormick)
READY, SET GO:

Preheat your oven to 350
Place cupcake cups in muffin pan and set aside
Sift (dry mixture) flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda into a bowl, mix to incorporate and then set aside
Whisk/Beat butter and sugar for 3-4 minutes, add eggs in one at atime, add sour cream, butter milk, vegetable oil, vanilla and foodcoloring and mix 1-2 minutes
Gradually add dry mixture in but do not over beat
Scoop batter into cupcake cups with an ice cream scooper for size consistency
Bake for 22 minutes or until you stick a tooth pick in the center of cupcake and it comes out clean
Take cupcakes out of pan and place on cooling rack before icing

TIME FOR THE CREAM CHEESE ICING WITH COCONUT TOP, WHOO HOO!!!!
INGREDIENTS:
1 12 ounce whipped cream cheese (I use the ones in a container by Philadelphia Cream Cheese)
4 sticks of room temperature unsalted butter
3 tbsp. of pure vanilla extract
1 2 pound bag of confectioner sugar
Coconut to taste
READY, SET, GO:

Mix all ingredients together with the exception of coconut
Once mixture is creamy add to piping bag and pipe onto cooled cupcakes
Sprinkle top of icing of each cupcake with coconut (use lots or less whatever you like)

ENJOY ENJOY AND ENJOY!!!!

Words can hurt of heal. Do you have a tongue like a razor blade Proverbs 12 says 'Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (Proverbs 12:18)' especially in marriage this can cause pain for many days to come. Many people are sensitive and don't heal right away so its important how we use our words. Think about that young boy that called you a name that stuck with you for years until your whole world turned up side down. Somebody said they didn't like your hair so you now spend thousands of dollars on weaves so now one will ever call you that name again, or they made a crack about your weight and now you are starving yourself to fit in the dress that somebody else said looked good on you: never mind you dont even like the dress and your weave caught on fire last year and you can't pay your house note. In short: words matter: use them wisely.
So today when thinking about your future beau, your current one, or the one getting ready to be yours.. do an inventory of your speech. Are you wise with the words you use. Are they like a bullet or a balm? ..til next time....toodles.

Don't hang up your dress just yet. Have you ever been in a relationship where you felt like this person really wants to be somewhere else. You know it wasn't obvious but subtle, like I'll keep you around but the minute I find something better I'm out the door. I've been on both sides and it makes for unfair relationships. The main thing in any relationship is do you WANT to be there? Do you REALLY want to be there? There has to be something besides convenience to keep you around. When deciding who to spend your time with it's important to know who wants who. It says in the bible not to cast your pearls among swine. Meaning God's treasures have so much value you don't want to just fling them before dogs/pigs. Pigs will sully your white dress and think nothing of it because they really don't know what to do with pearls anyway. When God sends someone your way it's best to remember they should treat you like God would. This is not to say people don't fail, everyday they do. But is the benefit outweighing the cost. If you find yourself giving yourself away and wondering would this person be there for you in return. STOP, WAIT don't pass go...you need to ask God is this the person HE would have you spend your precious pearls on? Or is this person going to cast them under their feet?

A lovely wedding flower for a bouquet is the Stephanotis, it is the official wedding flower and meaning martial bliss. I have seen many bouquets with a pearl or rhinestone in the center, if you are really adventurous you could try to do it yourself. Get some satin ribbon, pins and a good set of shears and you should be on your way. Below is a sample i found of how to do a Stephanotis bouquet via Martha Stewart.

Lets talk about sex....Ok so normally I dont post about books on this blog, i have a literary one for that; but seeing as I have most likely readers here that are single I would love to make a recommendation. I first heard about "The Thrill of the Chaste" on Lashawn Barber's corner blog and was stuck by her review. The main thing that got me was the author Dawn Eden's comments about how her view of sexual promiscuity left her less vulnerable to the men she wanted to marry. In other words the "sex and the city myth' leads women
more longing not less. I know a lot of women who are having trouble finding or rather being found by the men they desire; and the world's method of courting basically tells you the more relationships you have the less ties you have and the more free you are. But the truth is the more relationships you have the less vulnerable you become to the opposite sex, b/c intimacy is for marriage only. It really resonated with me so i decided to pick up the book. This was a great read, more or less a memoir and Dawn's testimony of how she came to know that God's way of purity and waiting til marriage is really the only way to get the thrill worth having.At times it reads like a theology book and is chock full of information as well. Be forewarned this is not for the faint at heart, or those who have never 'been out there' before. She does not mince words regarding her past life and encounters and is brutally honest, but between the honest testimony and pain are some jewels of wisdom and advice that make it an anointed and worthy read, i felt like after i read some parts i had taken a bath! So for my single gals looking to prevent certain issues in your marriage, put down that 'Sex and the City'ish' novel, Zane or other filled with infidelity, drama and the like..b/c this might be a book you'll want to pick it up. Gbless!

(the real blessing of this book to me is that God specializes in starting over and new beginnings, He makes all things new! )

Nowadays, many couples are more well established in finances so wedding gifts though nice dont necessarily serve the same purpose. Where a couple had basic needs for the home many women and men come to the relationship with 'stuff'. Sometimes that stuff can be all the things required for a home sometimes that stuff can be people too!(kids yikes! but i digress) either way if you both have too much STUFF, consider having guests GIVE for the reception. You can have the option of having them donate at the wedding or include in the invite itself a ticket which includes which charity you would like. There are many worthy causes and even at the reception you can make it a part of your reception theme. Some examples could be:

A winter wedding: Operation Christmas Child (they normally collect in the early fall but go to www.BGEA.org yourself to check.

Fall Wedding: Plant a tree or donate to greenpeace or another envirnomental cause. You might consider those affected by natural disasters seeing as this is hurricane season. It is a good way to remember those less fortunate on your big day!

Summer Wedding, the ideas are endless WORLD VISION, World Relief or Compassion international come to mind

Spring Wedding: Perhaps a woman's cause or a place that keeps teenagers who are pregnant.

Either way everyone is touched by something, what better way to include this in your wedding.

There are a myriad of ways one can choose to incorporate the theme into your wedding. Perhaps include trees as decor on the table which includes information on the charity. Or a gift from a country that one of your charity supports. Baskets are beautiful creations and many times in countries where there is much poverty you could purchase some from a place like thousand villages ? or some other fair trade organization to include in your reception. This will remind people who may not have given a gift that they can simply donate to charity in lieu of a traditional registry.

A quick way to send your husband running, is to be evil. Are you ill tempered? It doesn't matter why. In the bible it says in Proverbs 21:19 Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife. So unless you are looking to be alone really quick, learn how to get in control of your attitude issues. I'm talking to myself. 'But life isn't fair' you say, 'he's being unreasonable'. It doesn't matter your issue, pain or conflict, in fact it doesn't matter that he is wrong. If you have an issue talk to God first. But if you are trying to have a happy home then you need to get over it real quick fast in a hurry. God will deal with the man, YOUR job is to stay SWEET. A desert is hot, lacks water and you could die of thirst there. You're telling me you want to be known as a woman who a man would rather be in the desert dying of thirst than be in the same house with you... and you want to know why you are not married..I digress.

If you are looking to get married deal with the issue NOW. To fake the funk and act all nice when you are courting but you have not dealt with your issues, is setting him up and will not play out well. Its not cute and you will end up alone with your waiting to exhale friends...not where i'm trying to be. B Blessed.

If you are looking for subtle bridemaids choices, i found these two at Coren Moore. These are nice for a spring or fall darker colored wedding. You can probably go with these colors all year. I really like her dresses, they are simple, nicely cut and fashionable without being too much. I have been praying whether to show arms or not, my church is not soo soo traditional and it might be HOT. Still if you want subtle and modest while still a little creative these two might make a fine choice. I especially love the top one with the belt, i think that is an excellent choice if you want the maids to be distinctive and yet unified.

Is it true? Twins for the couple? I was in the grocery store and saw on one of those mags, i normally dont read those, so i hope this isn't gossip!! Anyway if it is that great news congrats you two! Speaking of marriage you might want to check out the book of RUTH. Today i was listening to a sermonabout the book of RUTH. The verse that struck me was RUTH 3:10 which Boaz basically tells RUTH how kind she is because she could have gone after younger men, rich or poor but she choose Boaz. My question what if GOD asked you to leave what you knew to go somewhere you didnt know in order to be blessed. Would you take a risk on GOD. Ruth did and she ended up with a husband and a baby.

OKAY for those not in bible study let me give you the cliff notes. RUTH is the girl from the bad neighborhood, her peoples are the moabites who were like the bad folks with the worst reputation in the town if you know what im saying. Not somebody you would want to bring home to mama. More like DRAMA. Her husband who was an Isrealite (the good guys and clean cut folks) that dies and she is left a widow, so like she is married into the rich family but her ppls aren't rich i mean in an honest way i'm sure. So she's stuck in a foreign land with her mother in law and really it looks bad. She might never get married again or worse b broke forever but instead of leaving to go back to the hood she takes a risk and stays with Naomi her mother in law and learns to serve her GOD.

Now because she wanted to stay with the Isrealites and their GOD as opposed to the ones she used to serve stone and iron or the sun whatever. She ends up gleaning(working) in a field and finds a new man BOAZ. Boaz notices that she is a hardworker and treats her kindly and with respect. Boaz isnt like her old man, he's rich but he's old. She had to leave her old stuff behind. Would you do it? Do you have the honor, character? Here's this guy who doesnt owe you anything, you are like considered the town hooker, but you're honest and he is willing to marry you and look past your past. Ruth decides to do it. She asks for him to marry her ( you heard it right) basically leaves the hood and stays in a foreign land. She's a foreigner where no one knows her but ends up married with a baby. I got a question would you take a risk on God. I mean you got nothing, theirs war in your land but Boaz comes along and he's not young. You could go home but you choose to risk it and stick it out. I mean Boaz probably didn't look like her old husband who was young and fine, but would you take a risk on someone or a life who may not look like what you left in order to be blessed. Just a question?

How not to go into DEBT on your wedding day

The US has been talking about debt recently and I'm sure
President Obama and the country will have to come up with some solutions how to avoid being under going into the future. What does this have to do with weddings? Well, after all the picking and Brainstorming you would do well to sit down with your fiancé or yourself(seeing as weddings seem to focus on the female) and come up with a plan on how to avoid your special day causes problems into your marriage because you are now in debt. Below I have come up with some ideas to think about when deciding what to do with your finances.

1. Pray ask GOD first.

2. Create a budget-
You need to know where your money is coming from or going to ideally. If you are having a parent pay for the wedding, consider the costs the burden to those invovled and also if you are considering picking up some of the costs yourself.

3. Assess what you NEED, then what you want.
A large part as to why folks go into debt in life is because they are trying to 'keep up with the Joneses' you really have to look at your individual situation. Looking at wedding magazines is fine, but sometimes when you SEE something that you want the COST involved is ENTIRELY too high. Many magazines aren't catering to your economically conscience bride they just want you to buy, buy, buy spend to try to be like someone else. You don't have to be the Royal Family to have a fabulous
wedding, nor go into debt. These IDEALS can cause unnecessarily family stress. If you eyes are bigger then your stomach as they say. This isnt to say that if GOD wants you to have something you have to scrimp on your wishes however when GOD blesses you it wont be something that will harm someone else.

4. Remember your goal
The Goal is to marry the love of your life, not impress your friends. IF you are concerned about you two, not everyone and their Grandma, you will make goals more suitable to YOUR needs, not others so not to spend more than necessary. Also if you keep the focus on you two you can find venues items that are more meaningful regardless of cost or do what is necessary to have what you want. Also you will have friends and neighbors who are interested in helping you achieve this goal not putting more stress

5. Access your resources
What people do you know that have a skill, is it photography? Is someone an artist, cook, anything that might help you cut down on costs. Remember to be honest however if you cousin makes cards and they aren't very good quality dont pick her just b/c she's your cousin. Please be true to yourself
and honest with your friends. You dont need to make enemies or hurt feelings just to have your special day.

6. Create a Timeline
You dont live in a time machine, so you have to be wise about your time. Do you have to save for the wedding, what type of deadlines are you up against. Certain times of the year make things cost more then others I suspect. DO your research and find out other creative ways to cut costs. Honeymoon wait a year or perhaps have it in a time where other brides normally dont have a wedding. These all add up.

7. Talk to you Fiance'.

There should be agreement. This should probably be second after PRAY. If you guys disagree on the type of wedding or approach this could be an issue, hopefully NOT. But you should be in agreement over how you handle things and since you are a team it makes the journey all the more delightful. Happy planning.

Jumping the broom

Jumping the Broom came out last week, there were some questionable items in the flick, produced 'in part' by TD Jakes but generally it was pretty good. I wouldn't take young children to see this flick, hence the PG-13 rating, but it was 'generally' family friendly (think Madea) and i had a good laugh so you be the judge. There were some good elements in the flick, minus the concerns, the class warfare you see is something to consider if you are getting married especially in the African American community. I wont tell you the end, but both characters had to decide what is important and what ISN'T in order to save their union from the trolls.

P.S. I was gonna put the trailer up but the first scene is questionable so i had to pass.

Submission the missing ingredient

On submission, it is a subject few women in todays world want to speak about. But I was reading a book about marriage today and the one thing that struck me, was regardless of how you look at it, it is necessary for a relationship to look how God intended. What's more, your submission is more about God then anything else. Truthfully you don't HAVE to do anything, but if you want to be obedient to the Lord and please Him, it's what you got to do. In a relationship you want to make the other person happy, if you love them no matter what they ask. Jesus says in the bible if you love Him you will obey his commands. So a lack of submission to your husband is another way of saying God I don't really love you enough to do what you ask.

Now don't get me wrong, submission to a fool is no piece of cake, which is why u should know the person you are submitting to is of God and God has asked you to. Some men should not be married, because they simply do not know how to treat a woman. But ultimately when God has an opportunity to show you how to be treated you will have no problem doing so.

So the next time your husband or someone else asked to do something you'd rather not and want to say, "you don't own me!" think about the fact that you are doing it for the LORD, and so far He's never let me down. So ladies remember to b wise.

Sticky Invitations- who to invite who not to...

It says in proverbs the 'righteous is cautious in friendship' so how do you go about handling certain ppl coming to you wedding. Okay so you have THAT cousin that you are afraid of being around the punch bowl or the other that's always hitting on your friends or looking for a date. Some of these people are RELATED to you.  So how do you handle making sure your day is the BEST it can possibly be without it being ruined or stepping on peoples toes.

1) Do your guest list first and PRAY!
    First of all you have a budget and DONT have an unlimited one, try to see who God would have as a    definite and then a maybe. You know some close people who always helped you or had your back are a no brainer. Talk to you hubby, is there anybody that's a MUST have, include those people first, this is your A list.

2) Do you B list
    These are the people who you love but may either through circumstance or location may not be able to make it. You might consider these ppl, neighbors, some distance church members, classmates and coworkers who you are fairly close to though not TIGHT with. Be careful with this one, tips at the end.

3) Everybody else and trouble makers.
    Okay so your cousin is an EX CON, drunk Aunt Ida might dance on the table or that friend that always causes trouble and gets into arguments with your man or can't stay away from him. I say have no mercy! This is your day, you could explain to them that this is your day and you will consider their invitation on probation. You might want to think of giving them a job or position at your day to keep them occupied. Or otherwise if you have to deal with this person on a daily basis, and you tell them no, get ready for the fire. I only recommend the ax if their presence will be a detriment to your other guests and the risk involved outweighs the possible good behavior.   Be discerned.

Please note I have read lot about co-workers where they were excluded and everyone else was invited...to me this is ICK and TACK..ee, you know that people will b hurt. Unless you don't care and are prepared for these ppl never speaking to you again and that's no problem: be tactful. You could explain that you only had so many slots on the guest list and that you were unable to accommendate everyone; or you could let them know that you only chose those to whom you had a closer relationship if they can't understand well then its not your problem. But to ignore them and act like you didn't 'know' is just trifling and in my book a reason for a friendship to end. It is common courtesy, to alert ppl as to why they were not esp if you HAVE to see them on the daily. Sometimes silence speak loudly, so if you aren't interested in them coming simply be firm but nice.To give only one person the cold shoulder when everyone in the office will be discussing it, is unusally cruel and really kind of ghetto, unless this person is an enemy. Even still, remember even then what goes around comes around so play nice.

So I have been convicted and pondered this point for a while. Do looks really matter in a mate, does God even care? We see God mentioning beauty sometimes in the Word mentioning a few characters like Esther or I think Rachel/Rebecca, but other than David being described as 'ruddy' and Leah being mentioned as 'weak or tender eyed'; I dont remember much on beauty. I know God says it's vain and better to have someone who fears God. I suppose this is the most important character trait when looking for a mate.

Mainly because beauty fades, eventually everyone gets old, so it should be something inner that draws you to your mate. their love for God maybe or their character or kindness or love for you. So for all us less than beauty queens this is good news. It is also a gage when trying to allow someone to choose you, is what they love about you going to disappear in a few years and have them looking for somebody else?! Or is there something about you that keeps them coming back for more! B Blessed.

I don't know what the answer, but God's word speaks alot on it. I am not a teacher, but I gather if your desire to be married distracts you so that you can't do what God wants you should probably get married. If you being married takes you away from the things of God and you are not able to serve, maybe you should be single. I think it just depends, plus when God wants something to happen it happens, you don't have to force, disobey or be out of sorts. I mean usually people who are ready, able and willing get married so if you having issues it's probably time to ask God if that's even His will for you. the thing is to serve and love God with all you heart mind and strength. Everything else will come.

Should you marry an unbeliever?

No. I recently read about this in a popular magazine. No-where in the Bible do I see God giving His approval for a union between a believer and unbeliever. He spoke of how strange women would turn the Isrealites hearts far from Him.A husband has a great influence in your home. I have seen relationships where the husband wasn't saved while they were dating, and eventually did get saved, before they got married, it but wasn't easy, especially I'm sure for her. But it is never recommended, even in friendship. If you thinking of marrying or dating someone who is not saved. My advice would be to wait, until they know the Lord for themselves before entering into a union.

'But I love him!'

When choosing or being chosen, this is never a good idea. Samson fell into traps and eventually died because because of His failure to choose the right women and always go outside of the Lord's direct.Is God leading you or your flesh? There is a reason why God says to guard your heart. So don't go falling in love with a man for the wrong reasons and then end up hurt, busted and disgusted. God can use women to lead people to the LORD, but only a man has to make that decision. On the flip side, many times people use this an excuse to say that interacial marriage was forbidden. But God doesn't care who you are or where your from, He cares about whether you know or have a real relationship with Him. To yoke means to walk along side like in working. You need agreement in the home. It is very difficult, sometimes soul damning to try to build a family or relationship with someone who doesn't know Christ.

Now, this is not a condemnation for those already married, God does perform miracles, but its better to not get in it in the first place and trust His advice. Trust...if bro-man is serious about you, He should be serious about God. If He loves God more than you, you are in for a blessed union. Otherwise, you never know what may get, because Sistah girl, a man not submitted to God can be a dangerous one, no matter how much you love him or kind he may appear. It's better to allow God to show you who He has in mind and trust that He has your best interest at heart. Be Blessed.

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's Day. For those boo-less this holiday remember Jesus is the ultimate Boo! If you have family and friends to share you love with, do something nice for someone. For those with friends towards marriage, or those looking to prepare, I encourage you to not dally. How about getting a book on courtship and how to develop your friendship more. For those who aren't their, try reading a book on your love relationship with the Lord. Ask God to do something special for you that only you would know you want. For example one time I was soooo hungry and broke and I asked God for some papa johns pizza. Do you know that low and behold at the meeting i went to somebody had some PAPA JOHNS pizza. So that's what I mean. When you have a spouse God will use them to do little special things for you, you never expected. God can and will do the same. Below are some ideas i had for V-day gifts on look funds.

1.Caramel Popcorn-(homemade)
2.Cookies(heart shaped)
3.Fixing Breakfast for dinner with friends.
4. Note Cards with 'how do i love thee'
5.picking up love sonnets book from shakespeare at the used book store or song of solomon in the bible

Ok so there, remember the first love JOHN 3:16 stay away from temptation and have a great day!

Fragrance is very important, in the bible and many times is referenced when meeting one's mate. Ruth anointed herself before she went in to meet Boaz. In the book of Esther, before she went to the king. Esther was well-groomed for her mate and was bathed in Myrrh and other spices for a whole year. I found a great resource called Abba Oil which has many biblical fragrances and bath and body items. If you read the Song of Solomon there are alot of references to the importance of smelling sweet... The signifigance of Myrrh is death to self. Myrrh is a musky flavor it I believe was also used in Burials. When you get married, there will be a "Death" to self in more ways that one! Anyway have a good one and Enjoy!

to your love...remember that old song? well if you don't good. But if you do, try to take it out of the adulterous context and think about this on the upcoming V-day. I've been mentioning thankfulness. As you ponder your singleness or relationship headed towards marriage, think of being grateful and holding on to what's yours. In the age of serial dating, committment are sometimes things we fail to think of. Quitting when stuff gets rough or finding someone else, seem to be the norm! But are you a good steward of what you got? Sometimes when things come easily to us we have a tendency to take things for granted. You don't want to do that, sometimes God might let you lose. If only to teach you a lesson. Do you value and cherish all of God's good gifts. So before you get upset over whether or not you have somebody this v-day, think. Are you able to hold onto your love, or toss it in the corner.

I remember purchasing a gift for somebody one holiday and instead of treating it with value they 'threw it in the closet!' I was appalled. Maybe it wasn't important to them, or maybe their focus was on more important things, whatever it was, it didn;t mean very much to them. It meant ALOT to me. I had very little money and went out of my way(at least i thought i did) to give this as a gift. But it was unappreciated.

Do we do God's gifts the same way. He went out of His way to give us Jesus, and do something for us yet we throw it in the closet. Remember this valentine's day to be grateful and thankful for all of God's gifts. If you have a boo, show them how appreciative you are, if not, you have God. Before you ask for another thing, show Him how thankful and appreciative you are for all His gifts. Have a blessed holiday!

I suppose this is another post about contentment, i promise more active bridal advice in the next posts. I just seem to be on a roll. The above title comes from a secular soundtrack which i thought about this evening. You see the film was pretty worldly and not for children however it gives me something to think about. The star in the film was born into poverty and was trying to make it as a designer, so much so she was kind of put off my a rather handsome man who was her co-star trying to woo her affections. Anyway, she opts in favor of persuing her dreams which lead her to fame, Paris and the illusion of glamour, but no man. She almost completely sells her soul to the devil in this other designer guy who tries to make her believe he had all her answers but he was a devil, drug addict and all around no good. At the end she learns her lesson and returns home to her 'boo' and decides sticking by his side even in his dirty career in politics was actually well worth it after all. So my question to you is, do you know where your going to? Are you willing to sacrifice what is necessary to have what you want? Are you selling out to other options, career, money, prestige, popularity, are you ready to do the 'dirty' work of being a wife and a mother or do you want the former. A lot of women say they want a man, but really aren't ready to do the stuff required to have one.

With God do you really want what you are asking for, or are you still on the fence.That proverb says the teacher appears when the student is ready. Are you ready? There are benefits, but their is work. Most people today have the idea that you get the cake for free..nope. You gotta do something, perhaps its giving up all the other options to have the one, or the freedom you have right now, or the fear of letting somethings, or comforts go..to get what you want...So instead of wondering where you boo is this V-day coming, get alittle prep and see whether you're ready for the long haul...more later

Are you having trouble, finding the one. Or rather, allowing the one to find you. I hate to bring up a secular example but it deems repeating. Halle Berry is a gorgeous beautiful woman who can't seem to make love work, why? Could it be that she has an issue with contentment? Now, I'm not Halle's girl so I don't know her business or why, I'm simply saying contentment seems to be lacking in many women's bridal suitcases and its a main ingrediant for being chosen, and especially marriage.Are you just too picky. I mean you've dated this one and that one and can't seem to be happy with anybody! Could this above scripture be for you? Joyce meyers said in her meetings one time while your complaining about your husband their are many lonely woman who'd love to have him. So perhaps you should be thankful and grateful you got somebody.

the main thing i found was that contentment is a real problem, especially among people who have too much. Without being political, in America we have more than most ppl, so let me just say that if you meet someone who isn't dead, but treats you how God would have you to be treated, maybe you should just be thankful. From personal experience, i let a lot of good ones get away because I was so focused on what was wrong, that I couldn't be happy with what was right. Don't do this. If the man isn't saved or is beating on you that's one thing, but he got a job, even if it is working at mcdonalds, he's not gay and treats you decent: a little advice from the road..be content. Isreal had this problem in the wilderness, they were complaining and wanted to go back to Egypt, even though they were slaves. They complained even about what God was providing, they wanted what someone else had. I don't think this went over well. So be thankful for what you got. You meet a guy and he's not alla what you had in mind well pray about it, but maybe what you had in mind wasn't even necessary. B grateful, it will make your life go easier and half the time you don't need what you think you do anyway.

So share a biscuit and be happy, you don't necessarily need a benz to b blessed.

Boundless which is a website from Focus on the Family which focuses on the young adult marrying years and how to be holy and do things God's way. I came across an article via a blogger which is on my bloglist re: a Boundless couple that met, courted and married all within one year. So if you are waiting be encouraged, all things are possible. Some things to consider before hand, getting married is always a good thing, however marrying in debt is a no-no. Here are a couple of things to handle beforehand to be the best prepared.

1. Get out of debt FIRST

marrying with money issues is a great way to run straight to the divorce court. Try at all possible to get out of it BFORE you get married.

2. Get your head straight

emotional issues, baby dady drama and other issues can bring baggage to any relationship. Get counseling, read books, talk to others who have sucessful relationships and stay away from the TROLLS! (bitter people, and those who are not wanting to help you get yours)

3. Get a vision

What is God's vision for your life, do you know what you want. Are you prepared to be MARRIED after the wedding. Planning is good, but nobody wants to marry someone who has NO idea where they are going.

4.Go for it.

Letterpress at Home

I am a printer, but letterpress is one field of printmaking I have never been able to explore, finding a press etc etc. You can imagine how happy I was to see in the good ole AC moore and crafts someone had attempted to do at home letterpress printing minus the press. Sort of like the yudu, for us die hard silkscreen, emultion, darkroom fans. Check it out on my list of blogs or here at www.lifestylecrafts.com.
Great for the creative bride who perhaps didn't include letterpress in her budget but still would like to try this technique for elegant wedding invites. I haven't tried it yet, but will be the first to let you take a peek at my samples.
